Oh Lord, It's Hard to Be Humble

OK, here's the deal. I had a different topic planned to blog about today. And it was really, really, really a doozie. You'da loved it. It was in fact so good that it would have brought tears to your eyes with touching moments and then with laughter. Alas, I've dumped, deleted and forgotten it. No, really. You would have loved it! Oh well, too late now. Onward and upward.

Before I get to today's topic, let me take a moment here. I'm assuming that most of you know Karen - aka Mrs. Farmhouse? You know, the one who had to announce to the whole world that I had a blog that I really wanted to keep quiet about so no one would read it thereby perserving my dignity when I made a fool of myself? (Is there an English teacher out there? Was that a run-on sentence?) If you read her blog today, check the part where she says Ms. Faye (that's me) is a hoot. Hey, thanks Karen. Now let me call your attention to the part that said I am a PLAIN --- HOOT. Hello? Who you callin' plain? I'm surprised she didn't throw "OLD" in there too! Guess it takes friends to keep ya humble. (Love ya anyway Karen.)
Made a trip to town this morning. Not too exciting except for the fact that I needed to stop at Fleet Farm. Now I suppose not everyone in the world knows what a Fleet Farm is. We live smack-dab in the middle of farm country. Farmers need all kinds of wierd stuff. The kind of stuff that only farmers need and nobody else would want basically. You can ask any farmer within a hundred miles and they will tell you that if Fleet Farm doesn't have it - you don't need it. Oddly enough, that is not totally true and yet today I felt in my bones that Fleet Farm would have their end of year clearance on their nursery items. Yup, 50% off all living things. Not the people - sheesh - what are you thinking? Just the plants, shubs, & trees. Dirt, Bugs & rodents are free. So, ok, back to the 50% off. I was in flowerpot heaven. Here are my treasures:

There are 3 Goldmound Spirea; 2 varieties of Hosta, 1 peachy/creamy Coral Bells; a very lush Blue Clips and an orange day lily. These were all 50% off! Did I mention that? Don't they look like nice plants? (50% off!)

These are the same treasures plus the 6 Little Kim Lilacs
that I threw in the back that were actually 60% off! Yes, ma'am.
60% off! Well, don't I just feel like Martha Stewart? Of course, they are not in the ground yet. Hmmmm. Give me a couple minutes to dream up an excuse why I need a BIG, STRONG HANDSOME MAN to dig holes for me. I'm open to suggestions......... (& where to find one???)

Coral Bells. Love 'em. There are so many colors now plus in a couple years you can divide 'em like crazy.

This is the one that got away. Actually it is a blossom I knocked off the day lily I bought while trying to stuff everything in the truck. Gotta love day lilies too. They multiply too. Or is it that you divide them? Whatever. Probably it's higher math. Plus they fill up space nicely so you don't have to buy more expensive flowers. I like to save a penny where I can. Frugal Faye. Yup. That's me.

Wondering where I'll put all that stuff? Some might end up here: the new flower bed I started to make last fall before "the incident". (Never mind, not important.) What kind of flowers are growing there? Not sure. I just know they are native to the area and seem to re-seed themselves - prolifically. If you want them, you may come and pick them all. No charge. :-)

Lastly, and this should have been firstly. I want to thank each & every one that left a comment for me after my 1st blog. (assuming you came back). You sure do know how to make a girl feel welcome. I tried to reply to every one but I know I didn't git 'er done. This got a little overwhelming so I hope you'll forgive me if I didn't answer.

That should do it for today. My life is so boring that I can only write about one teeny-tiny topic per day otherwise there will be nothing left for next time. Remember, I have nothing to say. But it takes me a long time to get there.

I think you must keep Karen from Yellow Farmhouse on her toes! I did read that she said "plain" but it didn't register in my mind as anything to make less of you. LOL! I am sure there will be a public apology coming soon. You are so funny, Faye!
