Give Away–from me to you

I say to myself – why don’t you just close down this blog, you haven’t written since last July.  Then I say to myself, but I had so much fun and met so many great people, I don’t want to close it down.  So I flipped a coin.  Win or lose I guess I’m keeping the blog – if there is still anyone out there who reads it.  I did kinda fall into the Pinterest trap – it’s so addictive and I’ve found there are so many blogs in the world that look so professional and have a gazillion readers and great tips & ideas.  But like Popeye says, I yam what I yam!

Jack of all trades & Master of None?  Not me by golly.  As of Tuesday night, I am not an intern any more, I am a…….

Yessirree Bobby – after a year of study & volunteerism, that high quality plastic name badge is mine, all mine!  Not only did I get my official name badge, I was given my very own copy of the 2013 U of M Gardening Calendar

DSC03322    Truly this is a great calendar full of beautiful pictures, tips & information about plants.  It also comes with a booklet about Hardy plants for Minnesota and what new varieties are being developed.  And isn’t that June calendar page beautiful?   DSC03323

Anyone can order this calendar through the U of M gardening site  http://blog.lib.umn.edu/efans/ygnews/  altho if you’re from Texas or Alabama or Oregon or pretty much any other state it might not be especially helpful for your area.    Still, what can it hurt, right?

How about a little eye candy from last summer?  I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves……………..

I’ve been so busy since July that I really don’t know how to catch up.  We did a couple major (for us) DIY house projects.  I’ll show & tell them another time.   With a dry summer there was a lot of time spent watering flowers.  Then harvest.  Then sugarbeet harvest is when the fun really begins as I also work in the field.  Sad smile But this is my last year for that.  I gave them 51 weeks notice to find a replacement.  I mean it this time!  Then I was hard at work in my woodshop making sawdust and other crap for the Old Crow Mercantile – which we just wrapped up on Saturday.

Old Crow Ad for Facebook

There were 6 of us old crows who are good friends and also like to make the world a better place – or just like to make stuff!  Besides, my philosophy is that if I am busy “making stuff”, then I don’t need to be “making” the bed or “making” dinner or “making” the house spiffy.  You get my drift.  It’s a win-win for me.  (poor Mr. Picket Fence!)

So, on the to give-away drawing I am having to say “welcome back”.  I made a whole flock of these for the Old Crow dealey and I have only a couple left.

If you leave a comment anytime before next Friday, the 14th, you will be entered in the drawing to win one of these snowguys.  More next time about the Old Crow whatcha-ma-dealey thing.  It was great and I discovered I have some gol-darn talented friends.  I’m so glad I get to hang out with them.

Good Luck my friends!

Ms. Faye

Thank you for keeping your blog! I always enjoy your posts and look forward to them very much. In fact, I often sit at my computer just waiting for you to post. I tap my fingers on the desk with one hand and eat bon-bons with the other, all the while watching soap operas and waiting. This post was rather timely because I believe if I'd have eaten just one more bite of a bon-bon, I would have exploded all over the place! Thank you for saving the environment. And me.

Congratulations on your Certified Master Gardener title! Woo-hoo! Very exciting! Your high quality official plastic name badge is quite lovely. The closest I'll ever come to anything like that is if my AARP card falls out of my pocket into a garden somewhere.

Your summer pics are delightful too! You are in such a creative, wonderful group. I always enjoy seeing all their creations!

I love, love, love your adorable snowmen! You are an excellent woodworker. I think you should have an official Master Snowman Making, high quality, plastic name badge for that too! I would absolutely love to win one of your cool snowmen, and thank you for the opportunity to do so!

It's time for me to go watch football now, and you have a great day, or week, or a great time until you post again.

Phew! No wonder you haven't posted for a while.....I am exhausted just reading about what you have been up to...glad you are keeping your blog....always enjoy your posts, Congrats on becoming a Master Gardener...very impressive! No Master Gardener should be required to work in the fields so I hope there has been a suitable replacement found! Cute snowmen...never going to see one of those in this neck of the woods..perhaps that's why I love them ..and I love the "old crows" name...and your show and tell pics....always great to see how productive you guys are......have a wonderful Christmas!

Hi Faye~
I've been trying to send you an email but it won't go. I'm able to send and receive emails to other people but I'm not able to send to you! What's up with that? Anyway, I figured there's more than one way to skin a cat so I sent it to you in a private message through Facebook. That'll show those email Gremlins!

Congratulations! Master Gardener! That is wonderful. You sure have been a busy lady. I love the snowman--sorry I came too late to enter. I can't be selfish, though--I already have a wonderful pillow that I won and I treasure it.

Picket fences have a classic look that not only encloses your yard, offering privacy and safety, but also add beauty to your home. There are kits available to build a picket fence, but they're really not that hard to build from scratch.
