What can I possibly say about why I haven’t written for so long? Let’s see:
1. I was doing homework.
I’ve been taking on-line courses since January in Horticulture from the U of MN in order to become a master gardener. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I didn’t realize it was going to be SO MUCH-this picture is just the book. The real work is done on-line.
My favorite section:
My least favorite section:
I confided to another master gardener that I was very nervous about answering questions because, well, I won’t know the answer. He told me that I only need to know one answer – “I don’t know the answer to that but I’ll look it up and get back to you”. Good advice I think.
2. My dog ate my homework.
OK, that is old news – it happened a long time ago and I’m sure Baxter didn’t mean to eat my newly finished pillow. He’s almost perfect now……
3. I was busy babysitting.
What can I say? Wouldn’t you?
4. I was involved with Garden Day.
I’m still a master gardener “intern”, but I have to help with the annual Garden Day. It’s a big deal here. 42 speakers, 90+ class offerings. Trying to pick the 5 classes you want the most is a challenge. We served lunch to somewhere between 600 to 700 that day. Flower pots held Honey popovers filled with chicken salad – they were so good. And the cake pops for dessert were equally yummy. These are just a few of the lunches being prepared.
5. I was on a Tour --- of Tables as a fundraiser for an organization that provides services to people that help them stay in their own homes. Our theme this year was the Wizard of Oz:
I designed the booklet as well as the tickets which were also bookmarks -
Each table was decorated with a kid’s book as it’s theme. Our menu included:
Auntie Em’s famous Chicken Salad with Kansas Croissants, Emerald City Salad and over the rainbow fruit. Each table hostess provided their dessert to match her theme.
Some events might have a kids menu that would include a corn dog, chips, fruit, knox blocks and a drink. At our event, kids’ meals were: Toto on a Stick, Munchkin Munchies, Rainbow Fruit, Wicked Witch Wigglers and Lollipop Punch. They also got a bottle of Glinda the Witch’s bubbles.
There were 14 tables. I took pictures of 13 tables – say what? And guess whose table was the one I didn’t get a picture of? Yuppers – Jean & I did a Wizard of Oz table but I have no picture to prove it. Jean dressed her American Girl doll as Dorothy – even had the ruby slippers and Toto in a little basket. Our dessert was cupcakes:
I made the raffle quilt:
Our waiters were The Scarecrow, The Tin Man, The Lion, Glinda the Witch and of course Dorothy.
Dorothy had to work extra hard because of course she had to sing her trademark song – Somewhere Over etc, etc.
Let’s say that you were just now arriving. You’d have to start on the Lollipop Lane:
Then follow the Yellow Brick Road:
then under the Rainbow on your way to see the Wizard in the Land of Oz.
The little sign on his arm says: “well what would you do with a brain if you had one?” Gosh, that is so profound. Don’t you think?

I have often thought doing the master gardner course would be a wonderful experience, good luck with your test, you'll pass with flying colors, just look at your garden, geesh, they don't have a clue what a gift their getting when you are sworn in for your new duties!
Glad to see a post from you. You just sort of dropped out into nowhere. I know a couple people who have done the master gardener thing and said it was a lot of work.
Well, with that list of accomplishments you are totally excused for being absent for so long.
I will have to make up some excuses.
So glad to see you back!
Linda

Woo-hoo! I'm so happy to see that you posted! My, my, my but you are one busy gal Faye! Your Master Gardener endeavor is so exciting! Good for you. Keep us updated please.
I'm not very good at gardening but I want to get better! I've failed at a raised veggie garden several times so I bought a tomato plant in a container at Home Depot about a month ago. It's still alive too and there are two tomatoes on it. My first EVER tomatoes! I'm so excited that I just want to sit and stare at it but I'm afraid it will die if I do so I'm avoiding eye contact.
Your Wizard of Oz event was fabulous! It sounds like it was really fun, and the booklet was so creative and cute. I love the colors in the quilt too!
Welcome back and I look forward to more posts if you have time. Right now, I'm off to ponder what I'd do if I had a brain but I'm thinking I might garden.
Take care Faye,
D~~~~

I like you post it to much Many residential installations will require a lighter gauge, in which case, a straight wire is used without the 'springs'. We recommend a 12 1/2 ga. hi-tensile wire for this type of application. It is made to stretch, whereas most other types are difficult to keep tight and often times it will break, if over stretched. Unfortunately, most contractors do not use this type and it is difficult to find it smaller than 2000' coils (no we will not try to uncoil and measure out 115' for you - a $2.30 sale that takes half a day). You could purchase the whole coil (for about $40.00) and save the rest.Chain Wire Fencing
Nice I also share with you something hope this helpful for you. The fence may be a structure of any material, a ditch, an embankment or a vegetative barrier (eg hedge). It does not include a retaining wall or the wall of a building. The cost of a dividing fence includes the cost of all related fencing work, such as preparation of the land, as well as the design, construction, replacement, repair and maintenance of the fence.Check it out thanks.

Hey my friends I tell you some tips I have 14 rapidfence crowd barriers panels for sale. I was going to use them for a little project but that fell through. The panel are brand new. They have just been sitting in my shed. They have slide on feet (to stabilize) included. Pirce has been changes because I want to get rid of them! $40 each! or $500 for all of them Make an offer I need to get rid of them!!
Chainwire Fencing
Hey I my friends I tell you something can you give me answer. Unroll the chain link fabric on the ground along the fence line. Slide tension bar through the last link on the chain link fabric. Stand the fabric up and lay it against the posts. Fasten the tension bar (that you just inserted) to the terminal post with tension bands (already on the post). Use the carriage bolts with the head to the outside of the fence. Walk along the fence and take the slack out. Loosely attach fabric to top rail with a few wire ties. cyclone fencing
